The winning story!

Anna was a good hamster... a great hamster in fact! She was the only hamster I would never forget, and this is why. Saturday afternoon. My favorite time of the week. I was on the computer, doing this and that, checking my e-mail, playing a few games... Anyway, I suddenly heard a breathing over my shoulder. So I turned around and my brother was there screaming in my face. After a period of time, he finally gave up and asked in a hoarse voice, "Did I scawe yow." ( He was only 3, so he talked funny.) "No," I say "No you didn't and you never will, not today, not tomorrow, never." "Yow dust wait" he retorted " I'w get yow" On that note he runs off. Then I turned the computer off and headed for the closet to get my crocs. I slipped my foot in and felt something hard. I picked up my shoe and dumped out a dozen pebbles. Kyler. I heard a scream and then the slamming of a closet door. " I love him," I mumbled " but hes a handful" 5 minutes later, I'm on my bike, kinda showing off. Doing a pop up whenever I came to a crack in the sidewalk.Feeling the breeze... "Emma!" "What?" I scream at my mom, poking her head through the window. My mom really is pretty, with the long, brown, hair I inherited from her. (Except mine is shorter.) Freckles dotted her whole body, and she thought whatever she wore was "hip". "Come inside and feed Anna, oh and clean her cage too." I reluctantly gave up my bike to the shed, and headed inside to do the dirty work that comes with the responsibility of having a hamster. My soft, fragile, little fur ball, I called her. (OK, I admit, she isn't as fragile as she looks, because shes fallen out of my hands a good 3 feet above the ground before.) Any way, My soft, little fur ball. She was the cutest thing in the world, until I met A.J., and Mott's, 2 other hamsters I got later on in my life. On the other hand, if i had to make a list of cuteness, it would be hard. So there I was, newspaper spread willy nilly on the floor, Anna running around in her ball, and me left to deal with the stinkiness, dumping out her old wood chips and replacing them with new ones. I filled her food bowl, and then headed to the bathroom to scrub her play equipment. I brought along her water dispenser so I could fill it for her. I had a lot on my hands, thus making me unable to close the door. I stole a quick glance at Anna, who was at the moment stuck in my tissue box. "Uh... sh-she'll be okay." I said, lying to myself. As I was walking down the hall I thought of Whiskers, my cat. I always had to keep my door closed so he couldn't come in and eat Anna or anything. He'd already knocked her out of her cage once, and I wasn't about to let it happen again. I was still worrying about Anna as I was walking down the hall with clean play structure, and a filled water dispenser. I reached my room... where Anna wasn't! The first thing that came to mind was "No Anna!" I walked over to her cage "No Anna" "No Anna No Anna No Anna!!' I was in tears by now. That's strange, I said to myself. Anna's ball was opened on the floor. If Whiskers had taken her, he would have taken the whole ball. "Kyler" I mumbled under my breath. "KYLER!!!!" I screamed, the tears once again streaming down my face. I stomped my way to his room, burst open the door, and screamed at him. "WHY THE HECK DID YOU TAKE ANNA. WHY THE HECK DID YOU GO IN MY ROOM. SHES MINE AND YOU TOOK HER. YOU BETTER NOT HAVE GIVEN HER TO THE CAT!!!" I was furious, and then happy when I saw Kyler looking very scared. My mom opened the door, holding a bat. "What the heck is happening..." she looked at me and then my brother. "... and why is there no fire and/or burglar..." she said putting the bat down. "Nothing" I mumbled, and then stomped out the door and down the stairs. I needed to go outside and think things through. I reached the closet and yanked out my crocs. I thought I heard a faint squeaking. Great, now I'm hearing things, I thought putting my left croc on. I started to put my right croc on when I heard giggling behind me. Just ignore him... I thought... and he'll go away. Wait a minute, theres something fuzzy in my shoe. I squealed and lifted out a, tired, but safe Anna. " Gotcha" I heard behind me. "Yes, you did get me" I said giggling with happiness as I embraced my brother. Anna died a couple months later because my cat snuck in my room. It is three years later, I am now 11 and my brother is 6. I am still sad, but I hope you enjoy my story of Anna,
